Money later in life is no longer just about accumulation—it is about decision-making.
The truth is that as we age, financial choices become more complex, not because there are too many options, but because resources must last longer and mistakes are harder to undo. Common misconceptions include believing that one strategy works for everyone, that higher returns always mean better outcomes, or that financial planning ends at retirement.
This seminar took an honest look at the financial realities older adults face. We addressed the questions many people are thinking about but may not feel comfortable asking: How long does my money need to last? How much risk is appropriate now? Is my home a useful financial resource, or does it limit flexibility? Where should money be held or invested at this stage of life?
Rather than promoting products or solutions, this discussion focused on understanding trade-offs.
Attendees heard perspectives from professionals experienced in working with older adults and gained clearer insight into what is realistic, what requires advance planning, and how financial decisions affect not only individuals, but also spouses, partners, and families.
